What Causes a sink to fail?

Several factors can contribute to an undermount sink failing. When undermount sinks are installed, an adhesive is applied to the sink attaching it to the bottom of the countertop and clips are installed to help reinforce the bond.

If upon installation, clips weren’t installed or not placed at a prime location, the clips can fail. Additionally, depending on the type of adhesive used, it may fail as well.

The Countertop Wizard handles dozens of these calls each week, you’re not alone if your sink failed.

Can an undermount sink be replaced?

An undermount sink can be remounted or properly secured - without damaging the countertops! The Countertop Wizard can either reuse the existing sink, or a new sink with the same dimensions can be used. Most often, the current sink is reattached.

TCW TIP: It’s very important the new sink has the exact same dimensions as the old sink. TCW offers custom countertop solutions if you’re thinking about reconfiguring your sink. Check out our Custom Farm Sink Installation.

How long does it take to replace a drop in sink?

Does an undermount sink need clips or other support or is silicone enough to hold the undermount sink?
